About the Course
Unsafe driving includes speeding, racing, stunt driving, tailgating, blocking other drivers, driving off the road, running stop signs and red lights, driving with a suspended licence, failure to stop after an accident, and causing bodily harm. Unsafe driving poses a significant safety hazard, generating approximately 50% of driving fatalities.
This Safe Driving Counselling Program assesses the client’s dangerous driving to pinpoint the underlying cause. For example, road rage may be an anger management issue, or stunt driving may be an adrenaline addiction. We will examine their emotional dysregulation in and out of a motor vehicle and explore the root causes of their unhealthy behaviour.
Clients learn to identify their emotional triggers and develop cognitive behavioural techniques to aid in emotional regulation and self-management of life stressors. They receive psychological tools to help them make better choices and modify maladaptive behaviour to ensure the safety of others and themselves.
The minimum requirement to complete the program is six sessions, depending on the counsellor's assessment of the client's progress. A Letter of Completion will be issued upon completion of the program, confirming the client's participation and progress.
