On a New episode of High on Healthy, Richard Zwicky welcomes Rebecca Webster and Pablo Alvarez, co-founders of Connection Counselling.

We learn about their personal journeys into psychotherapy, their use of mindfulness and journaling for healing, and their insights on attachment theory and relationship patterns, emphasizing the importance of both partners committing to healing.

They also addressed overcoming shame, the role of psychedelics in therapy, and the necessity of navigating difficult relationships while prioritizing personal healing.

Attachment, Mindfulness, and Authenticity with Connection Counselling

If you’ve ever been stuck in the push–pull with an avoidant partner and wondered, “Is this actually fixable, or am I just torturing myself?”… this episode is the reality check (and hope) you’ve been needing.

In this conversation, I’m joined by Rebecca and Pablo from Connection Counseling – a formerly anxious–avoidant couple who not only stayed together, but did the deep work to become secure in themselves and in their marriage.

Rebecca opens up about her experience as an anxiously attached partner, raised by an avoidant mother and unconsciously repeating that pattern in love. Pablo shares honestly from the avoidant side – the shutdowns, the urge to flee, the shame, the rock bottom moment, and what finally made him choose to change.
